During the flood season, the best Okavango Delta camps sit on wooden stilts above the channels, connected by raised walkways so guests can move between rooms and the mess tent without ever touching ground that might be shared with a hippo. Rooms open onto private decks over the water, netted against mosquitoes but otherwise wide open to the sound of the delta at night.
Game drives here give way to mokoro trips, poled dugout canoes gliding silently through reed channels where you're more likely to hear a fish eagle than see another vehicle. Water levels shift the map season to season, so ask your camp which channels are running before you book activities.
