Near Torres del Paine, a scatter of transparent geodesic domes lets you fall asleep under the same granite peaks you spent the day hiking toward.
The domes themselves are the draw: canvas-and-timber geodesic shells with a wide clear panel set into the roof, so from bed you can watch the Patagonian sky — usually startlingly clear and, in season, streaked with the southern aurora or the thick band of the Milky Way. Interiors are simple and warm rather than luxurious, built to survive the region's famous wind rather than to impress.
Because most domes have no private bathroom, guests share a central refugio building for showers, meals and the wood-fired stove that becomes the social hub after dark, where hikers compare notes on the day's routes toward the towers or the French Valley. The lodges typically arrange transfers and guided treks directly from the property, useful given how remote and weather-dependent this part of Chile can be.
Book shoulder season — spring or autumn — for thinner crowds and darker skies, and pack for real cold: the dome's canvas walls and glass ceiling look romantic but do little to hold heat once the Patagonian wind picks up at night.
